Is my driving licence valid in Switzerland?
Are you planning to drive in Switzerland? Check whether you need an International Driving Permit (IDP) besides your Dutch driving licence.
Validity of Dutch driving licences abroad
You can drive in all EU countries if you have a valid Dutch driving licence. Your driving licence is also valid in Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. Outside the EU you may need an International Driving Permit (IDP). You can buy one from the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB). Their website also lists the countries that require an IDP. The site is in Dutch.
If you are going abroad for a longer period, different rules may apply. For more information visit government.nl.
Driving licence lost or stolen abroad
If your Dutch driving licence has been lost or stolen abroad, visit the website of the Road Transport Agency (RDW) for information on how to replace a lost or stolen driving licence.
