Lebanon and the Netherlands
The Netherlands and Lebanon have a long-standing relationship both in the public and private sphere.
Next to government cooperation, there is a lot of exchange between the two countries on the business front and between people on an individual level.
In light of the developments in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, both the Dutch government and other Dutch organisations have increased their support for Lebanon significantly in the past years.
The consequences of the tragic events in Syria have had an immense impact on both the Syrian refugees as well as on host country Lebanon. Over the past few years Lebanon has shown praiseworthy hospitability to approximately one million Syrians fleeing their country.
The Netherlands stands side to side with Lebanon in this challenging situation.
