Political affairs, press and communication
The PPC Department in New Delhi works on multiple themes ranging from Politics to Education and from Human Rights to Cultural Heritage. We also work closely with the defense department on topics pertaining to Security. On this page, you can read more about our cooperation with India.
We do not only monitor current developments in Indian politics, we also focus on human rights, justice and security in India. In addition to this, our department is also responsible for maintaining the age-old cultural ties and educational cooperation between the Netherlands and India. Finally, we maintain contact with both the Dutch and Indian media.
The Netherlands Embassy conducts policy research and analysis of socio-economic political developments in India and the region, and its relevance to the Netherlands. We interact with think-tanks, NGOs, university academics, and civil society groups, and invite scholars and subject specialists to discuss opportunities and challenges facing India, India-Netherlands, the EU and the world.
The Netherlands Embassy, together with Nuffic Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO) India, promotes 'Study in Holland' among Indian students across the country, including providing credible and accurate information about the applications process, scholarships and funding, visas and career in Holland. Nuffic NESO India is the official representative of Dutch Higher Education Institutions in India. Based out of Bangalore, Nuffic Neso India is responsible for a) promoting Dutch Higher Education Institutions (DHEIs) in India, b) conducting market research in order to analyze current trends in the education sector, and c) promote and develop alumni relations in India. Human Rights and Justice
The Netherlands and India work together in various international organisations, including the United Nations and share the same views on many issues. In recent years, the two countries have worked together on issues of cyber security, counterterrorism and combating violent extremism, and in promoting women’s and LGBT rights.
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and India is managed from within the PPC team. Indo-Dutch Cultural ties largely focus on supporting the broader Economic and Innovation themes through elements like art, photography among others.
Public Diplomacy & Communication
The external communication of the Netherlands network in India is managed by the PPC department. This is done through through Indian and Dutch press, social media and website, and with support and inputs from all our departments.
The Public Diplomacy & Communication team is also responsible for branding the Netherlands in India, monitoring developments in local press and maintaining consistent contacts with non-government entities.
