Logging in with the DigiD app

With the DigiD app you no longer have to remember a username and password, just a PIN, which you choose yourself. You can also use the app if you are located outside the Netherlands.

Please note: you will need to activate the DigiD app before you use it for the first time.

Logging in with the device on which the app is installed

If you’re logging in with a telephone or tablet on which the DigiD app is installed, you will only need your PIN. Follow these instructions:

  1. Open your browser and go to the website you want to log in to.
  2. Click ‘Login with DigiD’ and check the web address. It should be: https://digid.nl/inloggen.
  3. Click ‘Log in with the app’.
  4. Click ‘On this device’.
  5. The DigiD app will open automatically.
  6. Click ‘Log in’.
  7. Enter your PIN.
  8. You are logged in.

Logging in with another device

If you wish to log in with a device that the DigiD app is not installed on, for example your laptop, you will need to use a verification code and a QR code as well as your PIN. Follow these instructions:

  1. Open your browser and go to the website you want to log in to.
  2. Click ‘Log in with DigiD’ and check the web address. It should be: https://digid.nl/inloggen.
  3. Click ‘Log in with the app’.
  4. Open the app on your telephone or tablet and click ‘Start’.
  5. Enter the verification code and click ‘Next’.
  6. Scan the QR code with your telephone or tablet.
  7. Click ‘Log in’.
  8. Enter your PIN in the app.
  9. You are logged in.

Which devices are compatible?

The DigiD app is suitable for mobile devices with the following operating systems:

  • Android version 6.0 or higher
  • iOS or iPadOS version 10 or higher
