Applying for a Schengen visa for the Netherlands in the Czech Republic
You don’t need a Schengen visa for the Netherlands if you live in the Czech Republic. If you live outside Czech Republic, or if your current Czech residence permit will expire soon, find out what to do.

You don’t need a Schengen visa for the Netherlands if:
- you are a Czech national
- you live in the Czech Republic and have a valid Czech residence permit
- you are in the Czech Republic and already have a valid Schengen visa

If your Czech residence permit will not be extended, you can remain in the Netherlands and the other Schengen countries for a maximum of 90 days after your residence permit expires. In some cases you will need a Schengen visa. This depends on your nationality.

If you are in the Czech Republic and need a Schengen visa for the Netherlands for one of the following situations, you can apply for this visa at the embassy of Luxembourg in Prague:
- You didn’t need a visa for the Czech Republic but do need one for the Netherlands. You have to travel to the Netherlands on short notice and didn’t know this when you travelled to the Czech Republic.
- Your Schengen visa has expired or almost expired but you must urgently travel to the Netherlands, for example for medical reasons or following the death of a family member.
