Who has access to my personal data in the Non-residents Records Database?

Various organisations have access to your personal data in the Non-residents Records Database (RNI). Exactly which ones these are depends on your personal situation.

All are public sector organisations, and the data they have access to is only that which they need to do their work.

Organisations with access to your personal data

  • Municipalities
  • Research organisations
  • Healthcare organisations
  • Law enforcement and public order agencies
  • Care organisations
  • Tax organisations

Other organisations that may have access to your personal data

Depending on your situation, other organisations may also have access to your personal data. For instance, if you have a Dutch driving licence the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) will have access, and if you’re in education, the Education Executive Agency (DUO) will.

The list of organisations with access to data from the Personal Records Database (BRP) changes with time. For more information go to Wiekrijgtmijngegevens.nl (information in Dutch).

What to do if your situation changes

If your situation changes, you must notify the relevant organisations. General changes to your personal data, such as a change of address, can be made through an RNI municipality, which will then update your data in the RNI.

Other public sector organisations with access to your data – such as the RDW if you have a Dutch driving licence – will be notified of the change.
